Everyone craves to live by the beach. For someone like me who doesn’t live anywhere close to a beach, I yearn for it more. Even if it’s a two day break I would rather stay by the beach than travel to the mountains, which, by the way is much closer to where I live. Of course when you zero down, you have got to take a few things into consideration, for example the season. People don’t prefer to visit a beach destination during the monsoon season, for obvious reasons. For me, it doesn’t really matter. In fact, off peak season has the best hotel deals.
I decided to visit Goa and Gokarna in the month of May. As luck had it, it was neither hot nor was it raining. Not too many people are aware, but Goa to Gokarna is manageable driving distance and a scenic one as well. If one can spare around 3-4 days, then it’s a wonderful drive to and fro from Goa to Gokarna. It is also a wonderful way to explore South Goa which to a large extent is still the more unexplored part.
If spending calm evenings is your cup of tea, then Goa and Gokarna is the place to be. Away from the hustle and bustle of North Goa. Having said that, one can divide time pretty much equally between, North and South Goa and Gokarna. I managed to do all three in a span of 4 nights.
